What this checklist is based on
Signs and ages come from current clinical guidance: American Academy of Pediatrics (Hyman et al., 2020), CDC “Learn the Signs. Act Early” and the CDC/AAP milestones (Zubler et al., 2022); the speech and gesture thresholds also match the American Academy of Neurology guideline (Filipek et al., 2000). According to the CDC, if a child misses even one milestone or loses skills, don’t wait - see a doctor. So one sign under “Speech and gestures”, or loss of skills, is already a reason for an evaluation. Counting the other signs is a rough guide, not a validated test score.
